The third week of July will mark the start of NEET counselling. Four rounds of counselling will be held. The candidature of any candidate found guilty of any malpractice will be cancelled. The government will decide on a counselling policy if it finds that there are additional beneficiaries of the paper leak. Hours before the important hearing, the Centre filed a new affidavit with the Supreme Court.

Allegations of question paper leaks were made against NEET-UG on May 5, 2024. Despite claims on social media that the exam questions were leaked, the NTA refuted these claims. Four examinees and 13 other people were detained by the police in Patna, Bihar. The examinees had reportedly paid between ₹30 and ₹50 lakh to receive the question paper in advance. Upon conducting a raid at a NEET-UG exam centre in Godhra, Gujarat, it was discovered that the deputy superintendent, who was also a teacher, had given students instructions not to answer questions they were unsure of and had promised to fill them in. Candidates from several states had taken the exam at this centre, and five people were taken into custody. The Central Bureau of Investigation was given custody of the cases (CBI).
