If sources are to be believed, then 2011 could be the year for Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding.

The couple is under intense pressure within royal circles to finally confirm their wedding date.

William and Kate are said to be reluctant to marry in 2012, as the wedding would compete with the London Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

"They feel it would make them look like they'd won the third prize in a beauty contest," the Daily Star quoted a royal official as saying.

"Their wedding could be overshadowed by the Queen's celebrations. Or, even worse, they could risk eclipsing the Queen altogether, which would be a disaster for the family," the official added.

The following year, 2013, has been ruled out as 'unlucky' and William is also facing increasing pressure from his cousin Zara Phillips, who is desperate to find a free date to wed England rugby star Mike Tindall, who she has been dating for six years.

A pal of the couple said, "It's very frustrating. They can't make a move until William and Kate confirm their date."

That leaves 2011 as the most likely option for William and Kate.
