Though most of our work is done online these days due to the pandemic, going to a bank can be a necessity at times. And there can be times when you have no idea about a specific branch of a bank that you want to visit is open or shut. 

Let us inform you that banks are going to remain shut in September for 12 days in total. September will see a total of 6 weekly offs which will fall on -  September 5, 11, 12, 19, 25 and 26.

Several festivals are falling in the month of September which is regarded as mandatory holidays by the Reserve Bank of India while in some states, there are bank holidays under the Negotiable Instrument Acts on different festivals. Such festivals this month include Shrimant Sankardev Tithi, Karma Puja, Indrayatra and Narayan Guru Samadhi Day. 

Here is the state-wise holiday list: 

- The first bank holiday will be for Guwahati on September 8. This day is the date of Shrimant Sankardev

- There is Haritalika Teej on September 9 which is celebrated in Gangtok and banks will remain closed.

- Since Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp across the country, all banks will see a holiday on September 10. 

- Many places can have the second day as a holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi that will be on September 11

- Ranchi will see a holiday on September 17, since Karmaal Puja is celebrated in the state

- Gangtok is to see another bank holiday on September 20 to celebrate 'Indra Yatra'

- On September 21, there will be a bank holiday in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram due to Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day
