Best known as Mikesh of the web series Permanent Roommates, actor Sumeet Vyas will soon host a show, Stupid Man Smart Phone, on a digital platform. Adapted from a British series, the show will see him trekking up a mountain and roaming in a forest.

Accompanied by a different travel partner every week, his only means of survival will be a smart phone. They will be dropped into dense forests at the Tamil Nadu/Kerala border — armed only with internet access, a battery pack and some basic supplies for the first leg of this expedition. The duo will have to rely on the help received from their social media following or survival tips to get them out of tough situations that they encounter on these trails.

Though Sumeet, who will start shooting for the show August 5 onwards, looks forward to it, he is also apprehensive, as he has not done anything adventurous so far. “I am not the kind of person who goes to forests for mental peace. This will be my first time, but I am not afraid because I generally like animals, though I don’t particularly like insects. I’m quite flexible about food, but this time, I will genuinely have to eat whatever I find in the forest,” says the actor, who nevertheless found the idea contemporary. “We are all addicted to our cell phones. We are searching for stuff on it — from friendship to everything — now I will get a chance to see how helpful mobile phone is when you are in trouble,” shares Sumeet.

The actor is also in news for starring with Kareena Kapoor Khan in Veerey Di Wedding, which he starts shooting for in September. “This is definitely one of the biggest films for me — it’s as mainstream as it can get. The fact that people are curious about me because of Kareena says it all,” he smiles. He next wants to work with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Irrfan Khan, Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor. “I have been following their work and get inspired by them whenever they come on screen,” he signs off.
