When Sonakshi Sinha squashed the idea of having similar looks to Shatrughan Sinha's rumoured ex Reena Roy.
Sonakshi Sinha made her Bollywood debut alongside Salman Khan in Dabangg, which turned out to be a major box-office success. However, people had compared her looks with Reena Roy, who was said to be romantically involved with Sonakshi's father and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha at one point in time.
Earlier, In an interview, which Masala.com reported, Sonakshi Sinha reacted to her resemblance to father Shatrughan Sinha's rumoured ex Reena Roy, and said, “I think it happened when I was not even born. I found out when I was growing up and started understanding things. But I’m not going to crucify my father for something he did years back."
However, in another interview, Sonakshi Sinha disputed the idea of having similar looks to Reena Roy, saying, “I look like my mother, Poonam Sinha.". In a 2023 interview, Reena Roy revealed Sonakshi Sinha’s striking similarity to her. Reena Roy also commented on their startling likeness, saying, “Wahin na, yeh zindagi ke ittefaq hote hain (these are the quirks of fate). Jeetuji’s mother and my mother resemble twin sisters."
Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy worked together in several successful films. There were rumours that the two were dating each other, even after Sinha's marriage to Poonam in 1980. The actor's close friend and filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani confirmed these rumours when he wrote in Shatrughan's memoirs, "After Hathkadi, I was keen to repeat the same setup of Shatrughan, Reena, Sanjeev Kumar for my next film, Aandhi Toofan. But Reena said a firm 'no' to my offer. She said to me, 'Tell your friend to make up his mind. If he gives me an answer, I’ll do the next film with him. Otherwise, it’s a no. I’ve made up my mind that if he doesn’t marry me, I’m going to get married in eight days."
Meanwhile, Sonakshi Sinha recently tied the knot with Zaheer Iqbal in an intimate civil wedding. The couple later held a lavish reception for their industry friends which was attended by Salman Khan, Kajol, Huma Qureshi, Rekha, Honey Singh, and others. The photos and videos from the grand night went viral on social media. The actress will be next seen in the movie Kakuda, which is a horror-comedy starring Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem. The film is scheduled to release on July 12 on ZEE5.
