Author, educator, philanthropist, and the former chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, Narayana Murthy's wife Sudha Murty, is the living embodiment of a successful woman. She was the first female engineer at TELCO, now known as Tata Motors, and she studied engineering at a time when women shied away from it.

Sudha Murty was always a successful woman in her own right but she was also the driving force behind the success of her husband Narayana Murthy, the co-founder of Infosys. During an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, Sudha Murty revealed that she helped her husband financially to start his own company. She lent him Rs 10000 to establish himself.

For the unversed, Sudha Murty and Narayana Murthy were introduced through her college friend Prasanna. After they got married, Sudha Murty, realising Narayana Murthy's ambitions, decided to invest in her husband's business idea to bring it to fruition. Narayana Murthy then co-founded Infosys in which Sudha Murty contributed Rs 10,000.

Infosys, founded in 1981, started from a one-bedroom apartment, and the loan of Rs 10000 given by Sudha Murty to Narayana Murthy played a crucial role in its success.

Infosys now is one of the world's largest IT companies with a market capitalisation of Rs 6,08,000 crore.

Sudha Murty, speaking about the loan she gave to her husband, to this date, says that it remains her "best investment". In an interview with NDTV, Sudha Murty once said that she might be the "best investor in India, at least, or maybe in the world... I don't know."

Sudha Murty holds a 0.95% stake in Infosys.
