Now, get 2 Deccan Odyssey tickets for price of one

MTDC's ultra-luxurious Deccan Odyssey has just got easier on the pocket — the purchase of one ticket will earn the traveller a complimentary ticket.

The move is aimed at attracting more Indian tourists. At present, the train depends heavily on foreign travellers as its charges are very high for citizens here.

The offer is valid for the three routes the train plies on — Indian Odyssey (Delhi-Mumbai), Indian Sojourn (Mumbai-Delhi) and Maharashtra Splendor (Mumbai to Mumbai) that covers Nashik, Ajanta and Ellora caves, Kolhapur, Goa and Ratnagiri. All trips are of eight-day-seven-night journeys.

Last year, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) had started offering 50% discount on tickets towards the same aim, that of attracting more Indian travellers.

The 21-coach train can accommodate 80 passengers. Touted as among the best luxury trains in the world, the Deccan Odyssey is designed as such to reflect Indian royalty in every sense of the term, right from plush interiors and delicious cuisine to warm hospitality.

The Deccan Odyssey Luxury Train project is a joint venture of the railway ministry, central government and state government. However, last year, it was handed over to a private operator. The MTDC had conceptualised the Deccan Odyssey in 2004.

Facilities on board include channel music, intercom, money exchange/credit card swiping, safety and security arrangements, health spa, bar and conference equipment among others.
