India secured their spot in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024 after a commanding 24-run victory over Australia in their final Super Eight match at St Lucia.

The Indian team is set to face off against England at the Providence Stadium in Guyana in the second semi-final on June 27. However, the weather forecast predicts an 88 percent chance of heavy rain on the day of the match. If the forecast holds true, the India vs England semi-final may be at risk of being washed out. Despite this, India would not be too concerned as they would automatically qualify for the finals due to their top position in the group standings.

It is worth noting that there is no reserve day scheduled for the second semi-final, increasing the likelihood of a washout compared to the first semi-final. While a reserve day is in place for the first semi-final, the same provision has not been made for the second semi-final due to the tight schedule between the semi-final and the final. However, there is a possibility of extending play by 250 minutes in the event of a rain delay.

In a previous encounter, India faced England in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final and suffered a disappointing 10-wicket defeat. This upcoming match presents an opportunity for the Men in Blue to seek redemption. India has shown exceptional form throughout the tournament, starting with victories over Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA. Despite a rain-affected match against the USA, India continued their winning streak by defeating Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Australia to secure their position as group leaders in the Super 8 stage.
