Poulomi Das was unveiled as one of the contestants of the new season of Bigg Boss OTT on Friday. The third season of the popular Bigg Boss-spinoff is being hosted by Anil Kapoor. Poulomi, a model-turned-actress, is one of the dozen odd contestants vying for a chance for glory. The show is streaming on JioCinema. Here is a look at her journey to the Bigg Boss house.
Poulomi Das’ early life and career
Born in Kolkata, Poulomi studied at the St Paul’s Cathedral Mission College before venturing into modelling. In 2016, she appeared as a contestant on India’s Next Top Model, where her talent as well as acidic nature, made her popular. Following this, she made her acting debut with the TV show Suhani Si Ek Ladki in the same year. Although she did not win India’s Next Top Model, but it opened doors for her in the TV world. Over the next seven years, she appeared in a number of shows such as Aghori, Kartik Purnima, and Jehanabad. Her big claim to fame was a negative character in Naagin 6 in 2022-23. Poulomi has also worked in OTT shows like Paurushpur.
Poulomi Das’ social media following
A popular face online, Poulomi has amassed a sizable social media following, with 166k followers on Instagram. She has opened up about being bullied because of her dusky skin colour in the past. In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar four years ago, Poulomi said, “Even though I am dusky, I am proud of it. I love myself even if people don’t. People need to stop judging others. Nobody has any right to judge girls based on their body type, the way they talk, what they wear, or their skin colour.”
