A dismembered body of a woman was found inside a sack in Alipur area of Outer North district on Monday evening. Police said that some pieces were found scattered around and suspected to be eaten by dogs. Police are checking the CCTV of the area while teams have been formed to identify the deceased.

According to the police, they received a police control room call at around 6 pm from a passerby informing them about the sack.

"Following the information, a team rushed to the spot and found the bag. As the bag was opened, dismembered body parts were found from the sack and the forensic team was called to collect the samples and it was taken for autopsy," said Gaurav Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer North.

Police said that the body was headless and had some bite marks suspected to be of stray dogs while only some parts of a dismembered human body were found. A few clothing was also recovered which seemed to be of a woman.

"We have not found any document or any clue regarding the deceased. We are checking the missing complaints of nearby area to ascertain the identity of the deceased. Initial probe suggests that the person was killed two days ago," said a senior police officer.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at Alipur police station against unknown people.

"Several teams have been formed to identify the victim. Further investigation is underway," said Sharma.
